I learned a long time ago, that boasting about my 80 IQ was a really stupid thing to do.
Prepare for redditors finding ways to drop their I.Q. scores while saying they don’t matter. Happens every time I.Q. Is mentioned. “Yeah, I mean, I have an I.Q. of 200, but I still don’t think it matters because I’m bad at remembering directions.”
A teacher once told me this little tidbit that’s stayed with me my entire life and I use it (or a simplified version of it) in everyday life: A sign of intelligence is asking questions, being willing to learn new things, and accepting that sometimes your answer might be wrong. A sign of ignorance is pretending to be smart and always insisting you’re right even when you’re wrong. An intelligent person never brags about how smart they are because they don’t have to. An ignorant person will try to show off how smart they are and usually make themselves look stupider in the end.
